Hi Hanspeter,
Thanks for the suggestions, I will follow them in future...
now I am trying to build mplayer and it keeps on assuming that I am using 64
bit, but my O/S is 32 bit MAC OS X 10.6.8 on Intel core solo... so it fails
with message:
lto-llvm.s:954944:FATAL:Symbol .L_bye already
Dominique,
This looks like a familiar issue, that I thought I took care of
last week, for someone else (with extutils-makemaker). Can you print for
me:
fink list -t cpan
I'm interested in the version of cpan-meta-pm, which is where I think the
failure is coming from
Can you print for me:
fink list -t cpan
[pbook] /Users/dominiq% fink list -t cpan

Dominique,
Can you update cpan-meta-pm586 first, and then see if
cpan-meta-yaml-pm builds right? If that works, I might need a versioned
depend. Thanks.

Unfortunately this does not work (it was the first thing I have tried):
The following package will be installed or updated:
cpan-meta-pm586
I just built and installed inkscape. It runs, but when I
try to open a file (previously created inkscape file from
version 0.48.1) it fails to open it, with the following
errors output to the xterm I started it from:
(inkscape:31075): Gtk-WARNING **: Unable to find default
local directory
Can you also print for me?
fink list -t extutils-makemaker
