i got a weird error when trying to update-all - the process failing when
updating gcc48-compiler.
below is a copy of the reported failure when i try to update this specific
package, which i did not manage to fix by myself.
any ideas about how to solve this would be highly

order from gcc48 to gcc46, so that the latest version is the default.
I don't think there are any in case of the compiler used. The code is in C++.

I then tried to run fink selfupdate, but I got the following (too
cryptic for me) error message:

I believe that's the sort of error one gets when dpkg needs to overwrite a
real file by a directory? Check the path mentioned above starting at /sw/lib
to see if that's the case.

i already tried removing gcc48-compiler and then reinstalling it from scratch
but it failed again at the same step.
strangely enough, it apparently worked fine in the past for gcc47:

By chance I discovered this already some time ago, but today I made a
double-check. First I checked that they existed, then I removed some, and then
I reinstalled the package which provides them. And they came back…
