I've been doing just that for quite some time with no ill effects. OS X and
the Powerbook properly suspend. Makes it much easier to compile Xfree86.

I wasn't able to connect to mysql.mirrors.netnumina.com either for the
xmysqladmin tarball.
Going to the MySQL mirrors listing I verified that the same file existed on
other mirrors.
I then edited the
/sw/fin
