Hello, After several months of faithfull service, my fink intallation stopped behaving correctly a few days ago. Al attempts to solve it failed.
There are two problems: 1. tar doesn't want to do its work any more: I get messages like [jan:/Users/jan] janleys% fink update-all sudo /sw/bin/fink update-all Information about 1411 packages read in 3 seconds. The following package will be installed or updated: mozilla rm -rf mozilla-1.1.0-1 mkdir -p /sw/src/mozilla-1.1.0-1 /sw/bin/tar -xzf /sw/src/mozilla-source-1.1.tar.gz Failed: directory /sw/src/mozilla-1.1.0-1/mozilla doesn't exist, check the package description The tarball itself is expanded correctly using OpenUp. 2. dpkg doesn't want to unpack earlier compiled, installed and used packages for example: [jan:/Users/jan] janleys% fink reinstall tar sudo /sw/bin/fink reinstall tar Information about 1411 packages read in 8 seconds. The following package will be reinstalled: tar dpkg -i /sw/fink/dists/unstable/main/binary-darwin-powerpc/base/tar_1.13.25- 1_darwin-powerpc.deb dpkg: error processing /sw/fink/dists/unstable/main/binary-darwin-powerpc/base/tar_1.13.25- 1_darwin-powerpc.deb (--install): failed to open package info file `/sw/var/lib/dpkg/tmp.ci/control' for reading: No such file or directory Errors were encountered while processing: /sw/fink/dists/unstable/main/binary-darwin-powerpc/base/tar_1.13.25- 1_darwin-powerpc.deb ### execution of dpkg failed, exit code 1 Failed: can't install package tar-1.13.25-1 fink remove is possible, but I can't reinstall the package. If I'm not mistaking, the problems started after I had used ^C to end downloading some tarballs. I have had the problem with X 10.1.5 and 10.2, using packages from CVS.
