Hello all,

I am trying to get Mplayer to properly display DVDs. I have no problem launching the program or getting a skin to show up, but I can't get video to display. I havent tried it with other video sources/files, but I beleive it is a display problem and not a file issue (maybe I'm wrong here). However, I do get the message:

Reading config file /Users/tobiasrossmann/.mplayer/gui.conf
Xlib: extension "XFree86-VidModeExtension" missing on display ":0.0".
vo: X11 running at 1280x833 with depth 24 and 32 bpp (":0.0" => local display)
Reading /Users/tobiasrossmann/.mplayer/codecs.conf: 50 audio & 136 video codecs

help from various Linux sites tells me to do the following:

Add the line:
Load "extmod"
Under Section "Module"
Add the above information to your:
/etc/X11/XF86Config-4 [File]

but I can't find this file in the X11 build from fink. I have the latest X11 from unstable (4.3.0-2).

when I run--> xdpyinfo -ext XFree86-VidModeExtension I get reams of information on my display plus the added:
name of display: :0.0
version number: 11.0
vendor string: The XFree86 Project, Inc
vendor release number: 40200000
XFree86 version: 4.2.0
...many,many lines...
Xlib: extension "XFree86-VidModeExtension" missing on display ":0.0".
XFree86-VidModeExtension extension not supported by server

Is there a workaround for this file in the X11 I currently have, or am I missing a much bigger piece of the puzzle.

Thanks,

Toby Rossmann
