federico, before you remove fink and start all over (a bit radical!) make sure you start by removing the old x11. X11 used to be in /Applications/ , now it is in /Applications/Utilities. So remove /Applications/X11 to start with. Then it might be that you did not install the Developer tools part

Hello, it's me again, sorry. I have upgraded to 10.3 and now fink thinks that to install emacs21 it ahs to install xfree86. I think that it does not recognise the system-installed apple X11. However it thinks also that it has installed system-xfree86 (is this the apple one?), but cannot use
