The version of libxml2 that I'm using (2.4.22-1, from unstable) doesn't have any direct dependence on X11 (xfree86), but its dependencies may. Find out for sure which package needs X11 and then look at its .info file to see whether it is under the Depends: field, which means that it's a runtime d
