I've attempted to update a number of packages, singly and in update-all, but
they fail, apparently because of some bad path variable. For example, when
attempting to install lyx, it goes through configure, make, and make
install, only to fail thus:
cp -R /sw/src/root-lyx-1.1.6fix3-3/sw/share/lyx/
