The problem is that pango1-xft2 requires the xfree86
package--corresponding to XFree86-4.3. You need to use pango1-xft1,
since that matches what's in the current Apple X11.

to conflicting with system-xfree86. but isn't that the whole point?
system-xfree86 (as a placeholder) should let other programs compile
against it with no problems, right?
i'm not really sure where to go from
