I installed xdvi from fink, and the TeX.dmg package from the TexShop
site. I installed the placeholder for this teTeX package from fink,
and modified the configuration file as suggested in the xdvi notes.

But I still cannot get mktexpk to work correctly when building fonts
for xdvi. Every font gets something like:

- mktexpk --mfmode cx --bdpi 300 --mag 'magstep(0.5)' --dpi 329 ptmr8t
'>&3'
mktexpk: don't know how to create bitmap font for ptmr8t.
- mktexpk --mfmode cx --bdpi 300 --mag 'magstep(0.5)' --dpi 329 cmr10
'>&3'
mktexpk: /var/tmp/texfonts/pk/cx/public/cm/cmr10.329pk already exists.

and the xdvi display ends up with the wrong fonts. (Before I changed
the configuration file, it complained that it could not find the font.
I guess this is an improvement.) Mktexpk seems to work building fonts
for other devices like dvips, so I'm guessing there's a configuration
problem for xdvi.

I'd appreciate hearing from anyone who has gotten it working. (FWIW,
this is on MacOS 10.2).

Thanks,

Ronald
