Sorry for the hassle. I can't think of any other reason for this

There is a problem with zsh 4.3.2-1 after fink update from 10.4-
transitional to 10.4 (0.8.1). It does not accept any more the
accentuated characters with ISO Latin (1 or other), but only UTF-8.
