Hi Steve,
I have just successfully installed DDEX I installed version 2.1.0.0 on a new
laptop/new install for VS2008.
I use this as a guideline:

When you edit the FirebirdDDEXProvider.reg (step 5), you not only need to
change the path, but
Best of luck to you Carlos Im just getting into .Net, but I know youre a

How big of a hit is this on the FB .Net project?
Cheers,
Kevin

Sorry for the slow response, it's been a busy morning.
The 2 reg files are:
FirebirdDDEXProvider32.reg
FirebirdDDEXProviderPackageLess32.reg
(I installed both of these - maybe I shouldn't have?)
And the mods I did were:
1) change the %path% to the install path of the Firebird Client (c:\\program

Greetings,
This seems to be an on-going issue for many (including me! - still not quite
right w/ VS 2008).
Is there not a way this could be automated, like a full-blown install into
VS?
I would be glad to pitch in, but would need some assistance as I am a
newbie.
Cheers,
Kevin

I'm so close -
I have updated the machine.config file to match what's listed in the GAC:
gacutil.exe /l FirebirdSql.Data.FirebirdClient
I can now create a connection, but get an error after selecting table(s):

Greetings,
I think I am close. I've installed the DDEX, Firebird client, and VS 2008
SDK. When I click on Add a new data source and then New Connection,
Firebird Data Source is listed as an option.
When I select and continue, the Add Connection dialog displays, but as soon

Not sure if this has been previously asked and answered, but is Firebird.NET
compatible with VS 2008?
Thanks,
Kevin

Greetings,
I've been going through tutorials on VS 2005 (I have the pro version) and
I've seen some confusion on the installation.
In an attempt to avoid this confusion, is there an existing web page that
details out how to properly install the FB .net provider into VS 2005?
Thanks in advance.
Kevi
I am just about finished with MS Visual C# 2005 Step by Step and it's a very
good book (except maybe for a few of the examples).
It goes through in detail datasets and loading controls on forms.

Nice, but are you using
firebird? Does the book help you with firebird?
Cause i m finding it too difficult to make simple things with firebird and C#

I too am just learning C# and am going
through the “MS Visual C# 2005 Step by Step” book.
I think it’s a great book and with a
Delphi background (many years) makes it easier.
Cheers,
Kevin
