It should be a nbackup file since it has *.nbk* extension and created by a tool that uses nbackup. Is it possible to recover it, if corrupted?

I'm trying to restore a backup lvl 0, but encountering the following error: *Failure: Cannot get backup guid clumplet from I.O backup* There's no place where this error gets reported and I'm unable to figure out the reason by this simple message. Any thoughts?
