Not sure if Firebird performs in s standard way related to filesystems,

I have no issues with Ubuntu stable and Debian on servers Choose
the ext4 by default without modifications , only if you hit the large inserts

Hello, nobarriers option can Help, but i suggest you to install On ubuntu Linux
a mainline kernel, like 3.6.3 quantal with some buffers tuning and compile
firebird server your self, super Classic mode with native option compilation. I
did and i like performances...
