Did you reload the page after the first time you opened Firebug on a
given site?

I type code in the command line and it just doesn't do anything. I
haven't changed anything whatsoever, did not install any new addons.
I'd really appreciate a tip here, the command line is the most
important tool of Firebug for me.

Well which one was faulty? It wasn't Firebug and Firebug has no
practical way to prevent another extension from interfering with its
operation.
