Hi Julie,
I had a colt that was born with contracted tendons, like the ones you
described: so severe he could not nurse w/out assistance. He was the first
foal for a very small mare, by our stallion who is 14.hh and has never

In answer to Nathan Lapp's question on buttercup. I have the same
problem with the tall buttercup. It is not toxic (from what I have been
told and experienced) when dried. A few years ago I had some i

Exactly!! My mare put out such rich milk, she could bring it on in foal or
not, so even a supplement made the foals intake to rich. Grass and hay also
stopped the problem

Sounds like she is teething and you might have her teeth check to make sure
the molar caps are OK and nothing needs pulling.

We have spent the past 24 years gradually ridding our farm of barbed
wire which had been nailed to trees, etc. to keep the cattle in. We
hate it too and agree that it is not good to have horses near it.
Fortunately, the worst probllem we have had so far w

Our foals tendons were not so severely contracted that we had to use
splints, but they did cause the foal to walk on its toes. After about 10
days the toe of one hoof had started to wear off and roll over - at which
point the vet said he need

Cathy,
Our Appy is very mouthy and also a cribber. He really likes to put things in
his mouth! The first thing I would check is your horses teeth, to make sure
everything is ok. I don't have any sold advice on how to stop them
completely fro

Pam, I guess I had it all in my first horse, a crowd pleasing anglo/arab who
was always muscled, ready to go and yet most reliable, once you were on. He

have corrected her over and over with little success. In crossties she

Hi All-
The adventures of Tommes & Rafael continue...
You guessed it, they are escaping. Funny part is, Tommes shows no interest in
leaving his paddock -- he just wants the fence smashed enough to lean his
head out and eat grass : ) Rafael runs a whole 4

We recently had a new fence installed which consists of a vinyl strand,

Hi list ~ we have one mare left to foal, not due until AUGUST. Ugh. She
was bred early, absorbed the fetus and was re-bred. Other than that, we
have 8 little fuzzies running around, and endless fun watching them play.
I am amazed how they run
