I have seen fallen crests on heavy necked Morgans who also tend towards thick and fuzzy. Im thinking it was mainly on stallions. I wonder if fat on neck and exercise levels might also be an issue. Gotta love that "tomahauk" though.
Quit worrying about cold horses... Fjords lived in artic Norway for heaven sake. I've never seen a cold fjord or Morgan of old type. If I could spell it I'd say anthropomorphism. But of course the Vikings didn't shave em or show them either so obviously that's a consideration.
