Hello, I have been lurking for quite some time and decided it was time
to introduce myself. I have always had a fear of public speaking -
funny that a person can be shy on the internet as well!

Anyway, I am Tracy Apalategui and I am one of Gayle's gals at Field of
Dreams in Eugene, OR. I own a coming-4 year old son of Woodlands
Dustin named Dustin's Ely. I first met Gayle when I went to her barn
looking for a place to board a mustang I had recently purchased from
my trainer. Gayle and I talked for a couple of hours- she about the
attributes of fjords and me about the many problems my horse had (such
as barn sourness, not standing for vet or farrier etc). She then gave
me a barn tour and I met Ely. It was his first day of weaning so it
wasn't one of his favorite days but I left the barn with my mind made
up- I needed that fjord! Luckily, the trainer who sold me the mustang
bought her back (for less than what I had into training) so I was able
to buy Ely.

I didn't mind that it would be a long time before I could ride him
because, as much as I loved horses, several riding mishaps had caused
me to lose confidence. Also, I was tired of buying horses which
carried the baggage of poor training from previous owners - I wanted
to start from scratch.

Gayle, Ely, and I had a good time doing lots of groundwork. I also
took riding lessons on Dusty to boost my riding skills and confidence.
When he was old enough Gayle, of course, trained Ely for me and now I
have an awesome horse. He is extremely sensible and willing and he is
an excellent mover. I ride dressage during arena work and when weather
permits we hit the trails. We have even participated in a couple of
schooling shows.

Ely and I will be participating in the Albany Expo and I look forward
to meeting any list members there!

Thanks to all of you for the generous sharing of knowledge and stories,

Tracy.
