Hi Everybody from Carol Rivoire at Beaver Dam Farm in Nova Scotia ---

We're thrilled and proud as punch! . . . . .

When we imported Gjest from Holland in 1987, he had a wonderful record for
producing quality sons and daughters. -- Three things I knew about his
offspring were ---

#1 - He produced big-bodied, substantial horses

#2 - He produced good movers

#3 - He produced horses with especially good characters and work ethics

When I first saw Gjest in Holland, and saw his movement, I was blown away,
but we didn't make the decision to buy him until we heard about his
offspring, and what we heard we liked. -- And now, after owning Gjest and
breeding with him for 17 years, we see the results of his incredible genetic
strength in countless sons and daughters.

JARL - (Gjest x Uloza-Knud) -- In 2001, we sold Jarl, then 3 years old, to
The Center For Discovery in Harris, NY. This is a very large therapeutic
center with an important Hippotherapy department. -- From the beginning,
even at three years old, Jarl was good at his job. -- Today, three years
later, he's fantastic at his job according to his trainer, Michelle. --
JARL has just been named
AMERICAN HIPPOTHERAPY HORSE OF THE YEAR

                                WOW! --
We're just plain thrilled!

The story of Jarl will be appearing in Equine Therapy magazines, and there
will be a Presentation Banquet the end of November.

But, I can't let Gjest take all the credit for producing this valuable
son. -- Jarl's dam is Uloza, sadly deceased just last year. -- Uloza was
one of the first mares we imported from Holland. -- Actually, she was
Danish in breeding --- She was a big, old-fashioned type mare. She was big
and long-bodied, and had a large head and ears that were too long. ---
She was a bit funny-looking if you took her part by part, but . . . . the big head, long body, big ears.
But, added together these parts produced a wonderful mare!
Every horse person who saw Uloza always said something like . .
. . "Man, what an impressive horse!" ---- Uloza was an Alpha mare. No
question of that. All the other horses parted to let her walk wherever she
wanted to go. -- Uloza was a riding, driving, draft horse. -- She had 21
foals. She was always pristine clean, and NEVER sick or injured. -- Among the various jobs she did, she was a therapeutic riding horse for a center in Antigonish, Nova Scotia. She was a fabulous mare!

BRAVEHEART - Sired by BDF Malcolm Locke (Gjest x Stine) - Braveheart's dam
is Darmi, a King Harald daughter. And Braveheart's registered name is Brynjar. -- Braveheart is owned and competed by Kay Van Natta from Davisburg, Michigan. ---- The reason Brynjar is called "Braveheart" has to do with his birth. -- He was born about a month early, outside in early March and was found by his owner/breeder, Nancy Roermer, in an icy mud puddle. He was too small and weak to stand, so Nancy had to bring him back to the barn in a wheelbarrow. The Roemers had grave doubts he'd survive. Nancy sent me a photo of the tiny colt lying in the straw cradled in the lap of her 3 yr. old grandson. She told me that the little boy kept saying to the colt . . . "Come on, Braveheart, you can make it".

Well, he certainly did make it, and make it "Big" and "Big Time". -- Braveheart was the Grand Champion Gelding and Overall Halter Champion at the 2004 Woodstock Show. -- Joanne Goble, manager of the show, said to me . . . "He's the most gorgeous horse I've ever seen!" -- And speaking of "gorgeous", Nancy Roemer, a former Morgan breeder, said of BDF Malcom Locke, that he had the "most gorgeous head" she'd ever seen.

Braveheart was evaluated at the Indiana Evaluation and earned a Blue for conformation, as well as a Blue for Riding & Driving. Braveheart's owner, Kay Van Natta, is a retired schoolteacher, and this wonderful gelding is her retirement project. --- We're really proud of Kay and Braveheart. In fact, we're proud of all our owners. --- Gjest is now 28 years old, and although he looks great and is still healthy and fertile, we know he won't be with us forever. -- That's why it's so gratifying to see hi sons and daughters do so well.

Regards, Carol Rivoire
