We have never had a foal nibble at the mare's tail...never gave it a
thought! Of course foals come at the beginning of bug season, and the tail
is usually pretty well in motion! Congrats on your big boy! Julie

Gail,
You can put some "no chew" type spray on it, like "bitter apple, that would
taste bad to the foal,but be non toxic. Just be sure not to get any on the
udder, etc.

Well, after six weeks of foal watch, Anvil's Luise gave birth to a LARGE
brown dun colt. (His sire is Leidjo, who sometimes produces greys, so that
was a possibility). He should be big, as he has the bloodlines for it, and
to quote the vet,
