I think you'll see beautiful parts of Norway if you take the train from Oslo to Bergen, great scenery, hopefully you'll have great weather that time of year, usually pretty warm and sunny, with cool evenings, - the sun not going down till around midnight. Eat lots of fresh schrimp and fish in Bergen, and if you have a night in Oslo, go down to the pier ("Aker Brygge") where there are many great outdoors resturants with fun foods. (mmmm, wish I was going, I can hear the seagulls and smell the worlds best food while sitting here in ND on my iMac. Uffda.) Norwegians are out and having fun late in the summer months, tired from loooong winters. If you want to see fjords, maybe you should look into going to Nordfjordeid from Bergen, there seem to be many others on the list that has more info than me on this. Otherwise, you may be lucky and spot some fjords just out grazing, on your train ride . If you have any extra time, I favor the area of Telemark, - only a couple of hours train ride from Oslo. There are quite a few fjords in this area too. Have fun and God Tur. Janne Myrdal living in ND, but my heart is often back home in Norge.
