Greetings List,
Ursula and I just returned from Norway and the above show. Ursula
represented the CFHA, and I the FHI BOD for America. Phillip Odden
represented the NFHR. At the FHI AGM three new members were elected to the
BOD. Michelle Svea from Norway, Maureen daughter of Bob von Bon from
Holland, and Birgit Mortenson from Denmark. Birgit is serving in the FHI
Vice-Presidents position. A special thanks was given to Eike from Germany
and Ode from Switzerland for their years of voluntary service to FHI as they
left the FHI BOD.
Phillip Odden did a good job on presenting the NFHR Evaluation Program at
the Norwegian Breeders Conference. I added a few comments along the way. The
Breeders Conference was held in English lasting about four hours with five
presenters on various topics.
I felt the stallion quality overall was a little better than last year.
That being said only eight of the 32 three year old stallions were approved
for breeding. The Norwegians use a five point scoring system. The feet and
legs of the stallions seem to be hit the hardest at this show.
I had the opportunity to guest Judge the young stallions and mares at the
Briem Show held one day before the Nordfjordheid Show. Per FHI Rules I have
to have permission from CFHA, and the NFHR as well as the host country,
Norway in order to evaluate or guest evaluate.
We stayed with the Danes in their rented cabins at Lote near
Nordfjordheid. Plans are now finalized to bring three Danish Officials to
the West at the invite of the Pacific Northwest Fjord Group and the
Jensen's. They will tour Western Canada and the USA. As well they will be at
Moses Lake to present a clinic in English on Friday afternoon, Aug. 22/08.
Their trip will be rather fast as they have to get back to Denmark for the
Danish Sept Fjord Shows. Coming are Birgit, Danish President, Edith a riding
Clinician, and Ole a Senior Danish Evaluator/Judge. Their Clinic at Moses
Lake is free to interested members and guests.

The trips to Norway are becoming more and more expensive. With that in
mind I offer: Amateur edited DVDs.

1-One two hour DVD of the three and four year old stallions being Judged
and hi-lites of the Fjord Show plus final awards. English commentary.
  Total Cost including shipping---25.00

2-Two DVDs of the full Norwegian Breeders Seminar. Except for Phillip's
NFHR portion it is all about the new and revised Norwegian Programs.
  English commentary.
  Total Cost including shipping-- 35.00

The Americana and Canadian Dollars are so close, so just send a check of
your own funds by mail with your return address if you wish to order.

I will have a more thorough FHI Report in the Fjord Herald and the CFHA
Newsletter.
