The mesh was in the outdoor dept., lawn chair type stuff. The fuzzy stuff around the ears and nose was called cuddle fur. I used an old nylon cinch and cut it to length and then sewed the wide velcro on it. I was able to lengthen the jaw piece so it fit under Tyr's jaw and across his broad forehead as well. While I can't vouch that this would stay on any better than another mask, at least you'd get one that fit! I used an old one that was torn up as my pattern.
My sewing machine handled the fabrics pretty well, altho that mesh dulled my scissors in a heartbeat. You can also make your own leg wraps to keep flies off. Hope this helps, Casey & Tyr in N Alabama
