This message is from: "Pat Holland" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Just my assumption but I think Sophie was just trying to make a point that in HER opinion Phil deserved a Volunteer Award of some sort.
Interesting thought process on her part and got me to thinking as I am putting together the final packet for the Blue Earth show and Patti Jo received a great written history of how the Blue Earth Show came to be - to be read at the "Evening of Celebration" Tuesday of the show. IF there was a Volunteer award, I'd have to go with Roger and Diane Whitney and Ron and Kit Davis for their foresight and perseverance. OR Rich and Nancy Hotovy. Nancy was on the original Evaluation Committee, and served at Chairman of the Blue Earth Show for as long as I have known, until I took it last year. Rich was President of the MWFHC, and he did more for the promotion of the Fjords in the draft world than any one I've heard about. Rich and Nancy have not only worked the Blue Earth show and exhibited but also attended the Northeast and Libby shows. Rich and Nancy have been a demonstrator for the Fjords at the Midwest Horse Fair, again for as long as we've presented Fjords there and she is currently the organizational leader for that event. Rich and Nancy, along with Tom and Ann Hans and Mike and Susie Sadlon literally did ALL the foot and back work with the Blue Earth show - Rich and Nancy as breeders took their wonderful old stallion "Toby" everywhere and did everything with him and I believe Nancy once told me they have sold horses in just about every state. Volunteers - Breeders - Leaders - and best of all GOOD people with hearts of gold. And as far as a person who MADE the Evaluation process what it is today ( or perhaps I should say how the evaluation process was meant to be) - with work here AND overseas goes to Wayne Hipsley...although not a volunteer - with out Wayne's leadership, his ability to teach, present and commit far more time than called for - the Evaluation would be nowhere near what it is today. With great respect for those whom came before us. Pat Holland
