My half Fjord/half Belgian filly is almost a month old and is starting to
get chunky. The other two fillies (quarter/Morgan and Draft/appy/quarter) are
very slender. I know the Fjord is going to be much more stocky than the others.
I am feeding all the mares grass hay with a touch of alfalfa and mare and foal
grain. They also are on poor quality pasture and are let out onto a good
pasture for about two hours per day. Should I cut back on the mare's grain?
We only give the filly a touch of grain in our hands daily (probably under
1/8 cup). She is active and very loving, but would rather stand and be brushed
or petted than play with the others when we are out.
