This message is from: Gina Larson <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Hello Everyone--
Hope all are happy and well and enjoying the summer with their equine companions. I'm writing because my Chester had to have his hooves epoxied, and I was wondering if anyone else out there knows anything about this. I had always had Chester barefoot, but after moving to a new farm and being out on pasture basically 24/7 (and getting a bit on the heavy side!) he was having problems with chipping and minor cracking. He held his first set of front shoes just shy of six weeks, but when he got them off they broke off past the nail holes leaving his feet dangerously short. (the farrier was amazed he wasn't ouchy, but he has NEVER missed a step in the year that I have owned him!)The farrier used a new kind of epoxy to affix the shoe, and build up the outer wall before nailing the shoe on. He has only been using this product for a few weeks so wasn't sure what the result will be (how long he will hold the shoes, etc). He also said to apply pine tar daily. Was just wondering what to expect in the next few weeks, and what to watch for. Any thoughts would be appreciated! Thanks in advance, Gina L Marinette, WI New and Improved Yahoo!
