Dear Catherine: I feel so bad for you. I am still mourning the loss of my
2 and 1/2 year old Fjord gelding "Bergen Sinclair" that crawled under his
fence last July and was struck by a tractor trailor, early one morning. We
had to have the vet come out and put him down. His back was broken. I will
never forget him. I have another one now...a yearling Fjord stud
colt...which we are having gelded very soon. We built a page fence wire with
electric fencing inside for this one. We will never forgive ourselves for
having a fence that a horse could escape from. Apparently when he got
zapped by the electric fence, he shot ahead instead of back. The fence was
still up in the morning and my old App. mare still safely inside. We will
never know for sure what happened. I started crying when I read the lovely
poem from Jean Ernest. It is so sad and so beautiful. Life is so unfair at
times. My prayers are with you. Sue Harrison
