Jerry,
The ALC on an amplifier is a feedback path from the amp to the exciter
that holds the amp output to a certain level by reducing the exciter
output and thus the drive to the amp. ALC will not protect the amp
from a high SWR condition. Most amps these days have over drive
protection an

Eric, I have used a PW-1 for years with the Orion and now with the Flex
Radio without using the ALC control from the Amp with good success. I
simply keep the output of the Orion of the Flex at a level that gives me
about 1KW PEP output. If I overdrive the Amp or if the SWR rises the

Mike,
What is the location for the Delta-44 mods by KC7KW. I found several
sites about Andy and his prolific setup
but the Delta-44 eludes me.

Jerry,
I am getting an LP-100 digital vector watt-meter that has an automatic
shutdown on the amp key line in case of high ref power. The threshold
of the swr is adjustable for the alarm/keyline shutdown too. There
may be other devices on the market that will do this also, that are
not quite as

My luck is not as good as yours. Before I started worrying about ALC,
I smoked an output circuit on an AL1200 because of an intermittent in
the antenna coax connector. Made me gunshy. I intend to keep this
expensive Quadra healthy.

Mike,
This sounds like you are picking up the other radios local oscillator rather
than some other kinds of spurs. I don't think we can do anything about this
in software other than to ensure that when we have multiple rig controls
that they are on different frequencies.

Jerry,
Unfortunately, there is not a hardware ALC input on the SDR-1000. We do
have quite a few people using amplifiers with our rig though. Maybe others
could pipe up and tell you how they have their ALC setup (assuming their
amps have that option).

I have also experienced this spurious situation. I have a few questions.
I am shopping for a GPS disciplined 10 MHz reference oscillator. I have a
good Symmetricom 58532A antenna. Waiting for the right receiver. Will the
use of this device cut down on the spurs?
I'm also planning to have the KC

I am considering using an SDR1000 as driver for my Quadra amp.
In looking over the SDR1000 docs, I can't find a way to hook up my
Quadra's ALC control line to the SDR1000.
My present setup uses a 756PRO, which provides an ALC input jack so
that an external amp can make the 756PRO cut the drive

I just checked out MFSK on MixW with SDR1K and it works fine. All
modes work fine in MixW. What doesn't work is SETUP/AUDIO/VAC/Audio

which is a pain because when I go to SSB I have to uncheck it. MixW
