tones - possibly through VAC? or using a handheld device through the
MIC?

Clarification is in order. The SDR will work just like other radios with
less voltage, i.e. the power output goes down with less voltage. The point
Ken was making is that the SDR achieves optimum power output at 13.8 volts.
The SDR will handle as wide a voltage variance as any other radio on the

I spoke to a technician at Heil today how indicated that if the diagram on
the website is followed, with the shield wired as indicated, the cable
should work.
I used this diagram on the Heil website to make my cable.
