Gary,
I don't think Robin's problems are due to RFI. My previous post seemed to
indicate that. I have had that problem without actually while transmitting
with one particular firmware release that has been updated. These lock up
issues appeared after some firmware updates.

I have my Flex5000A sitting on TOP of my linear which is capable of
running 2400watts DC on 5 bands. I have never had any RFI
problems with the Flex when I "accidentally" drive it to this level.
The only torriods I have on the radio are what came with it.
Everybody's mileage may vary, but RFI is t
I have been reading this reflector on the 5000a since I ordered one back in
late September. Based on what I have been reading about these various
lock-up problems probably due to RFI, I am seriously considering cancelling
my order. Since I plan on using this rig for a few major phone contests a

Ed,
Heil has a mod to put an HC-5 mic element in a D-104. I picked one up at
the Fort Wayne Hamfest last week & plan to try it on my 5000a when it
arrives in a week or so.

Bob,
I had issues earlier, but only on 80 meters. I posted a message to this
reflector about large transmit spurs in the 5 MHz region when transmitting
on the low end of 80 meters. I discovered this because the SWR wouldn't drop
with an external tuner. Early on I noticed that a different antenna t
In my case, I had to shut down PowerSDR in order to recover. The RX was
dead, display showed a distorted "60Hz" waveform.

Yes there certainly are. If you will check with Heil sound, they have a
very nice conversion kit for the D-104. Just remove the salt crystal element
and replace it with the Heil Sound unit, solder a couple of wires and
voila', a D104 that works great with the Flex 5000. I know, that is what

Are there any mods to make the D-104 actually work with an SDR-1000?

I too have noticed a hangup in Rx. This has happened as far back as I
can remember. I just trip the vox or hit the mic key and i'm back
