I think we need a user fillable form if there is any hope of comparing systems. If I had any idea how to do that...I would. But way out of my league. I prepared the email and I 'think' it didn't go out due to that General Use Computer POC Vista Mail crashed so I ended up redoing this one. Hope

[Flexradio] 1394 XP patch.

2009-04-06 Thread Cal Latham
I have seen references to this patch but if I look it up it says it applies to XP SP2. It also seems to talk about 1394b configuration. I am using XP SP3 and as I understand FLEX uses 1394a configuration. Am I missing something? Thanks for reading. All the best, Calder (Cal) Latham

If your system is working well (and it seems to be) you do not need it. The patch was a stability patch I believe so it was needed if things did not work, rather than making things work better. ] Neal Campbell Abroham Neal Software Programming Services for Windows, OS X and Linux www.abrohamnealsof

There are several reference to this patch because Misro$oft keeps breaking 1394b over and over again. XP does not support the full speed of 1394b (800 Mb/s), the best it can do is 400. Microsquish keeps breaking (repeatedly) it so that 1394b only runs at 100 Mb/s. In XP SP2, they broke 1394a

What is your sampling rate / buffer settings? If it is 192 KHz @ 2048 buffers change it to 96 KHz @ 2048 and make sure the Firewire driver is set exactly that way too (along with being in SafeMode 1). Sounds like Firewire performance and not RF from the way you have described it. -Tim --
