[Flexradio] vspMgr error

2011-08-14 Thread Steven Hess
OK I have a clean install of Windows 7 64. I have a account called ROOT that is the master account and an account for the user which has administration privileges. I installed vspMgr using the defaults in the master account and it has a nice icon on the desktop and opens when It's selected. If I

[Flexradio] Location of SDRQuickAudio.wav

2011-08-14 Thread Steven Hess
Is it just me or does anyone else think that the location and hoops you have to jump through to get to this file is a bit too much? Having to set your system to show hidden files to get there just is off putting and the actual directory is buried pretty deep. It should not be this hard to access

It isn't that difficult in Win7 Vista and you don't have to enable hidden files to access it. In the Search box, just type %APPDATA%\FlexRadio Systems You will be presented with the folder location in the search results. Click on the FlexRadio Systems folder icon and the PowerSDR folder

ok, that isnt that tough but tere is no need to bury files that are meant for user acces in hidden folders. one thing some software developers do is make directories for user files configurable... eventhen te defaults arent buried. -- Doc Bill Dailey KXØO

I take that trek once, create a shortcut to the wave file, and drag that shortcut to my desktop beside my PowerSDR shortcut. Then to play the file, just double-click on that handy shortcut. Ron W5RKN -Original Message- From: Steven Hess Sent: Sunday, August 14, 2011 5:36 AM To:

[Flexradio] Scratchy Audio - an investigation and cure

2011-08-14 Thread Ron Stockton
I share this with my fellow Flexer’s because I see occasional reports of scratchy audio on the reflector. I’ve had my 5000A for 3 years, and during the past year it has exhibited increasingly scratchy audio only when using headphones plugged into the front panel jack. It was obviously a hardware

Guys, Sorry to start a new message, I'm on the digest. Just a few minutes after I sent my first note I got a reply back from Neal with the info in the KB article Tim posted. Changing from the TI driver to the OHCI Legacy driver fixed the problem immediately! Now I can turn off my Flex 3000 and

[Flexradio] Is the ZZKY CAT command supposed to work like this?

2011-08-14 Thread Howard Grams
Hello, The primary form of the ZZKY command is to send 24 characters of text to be converted to and sent as morse. A second naked form (just ZZKY;) is documented to return 0, 1 or 2 depending on whether the buffer is completely empty, has space available, or is full. The surprising thing

Clyde, Forgot to mention in previous post: an unbalanced antenna with a counterpoise, like the one you describe, almost always works better if fed with a unun rather than a balun. A voltage unun is easy to build and in my experience gives better results. I end-feed 200' of wire with a 4:1 voltage

Yes, that is the intended behavior of the ZZKY command since you can't send CW unless you are in a CW mode. None of the other CW commands listed below actually sends CW as consequence of issuing it like ZZKY. Whether or not a Kenwood radio behaves this, I don't know. I suspect it would.

I've managed to break the pre-amp function on my Flex-3000. When I select the pre-amp now on any band it behaves like an attenuator. All other functions (receive and transmit) seem to be working properly. I am able to use the radio as long as I leave the pre-amp off. This is probably a
