Bill, Your issue with the front mic connector is probably twofold; that the mic cable shield is not connected to the 8-pin Foster connector shell and the MIC- wire and cable shield are bonded together (connected), which they should NOT be connected. The mic connector on the F5K is

[Flexradio] CW Pitch thru 8 pole 250HZ filter
