I connected a Plantronics Audio 995 wireless headset to the computer
running PSDR. I found it was necessary to turn VAC1 on for them to
work. But it only seems to work on one channel. If I turn on Multi
Rx the second channel is not heard.
I tried checking the box for Stereo Output on the VAC1
I have a Flex 5Ka and want to pair it with a small amplifier 300-400Watts.
Something that will not kill the budget but covers HF+6M. Is there such an
amplifier out there?
What about just HF? Getting the 6M coverage may be problematical.
Thanks

Brian,
Why does everyone get straight forward assistance in reference to difficulties
with their Flex, but I get answers like yours?
My noise floor for all bands is about -108 dbm. On 15 meters, my noise floor is
about -88 or so. The noise looks broadband.
Any place to start besides going to
I highly recommend the Elecraft KPA500. I've owned one for about a year and
it gives excellent service.
When controlled by DDUtil band following and remote operation are provided.

There are many excellent used amplifiers out there there won't kill the

Look for an Amp Supply LK500 as an example. It has 2 3-500z in it and it
just rocks.
I have bought a few of them for about $700 or so. Just make sure you avoid
the 'no tune' version.

On my 5000a, I compare my noise floor on 15 meters compared with all
other bands. The15 meters noise floor is about 20 db higher than all
other bands. Any clues? Calibration issue?
It is probably Jupiter.
Thanks for the hyperlink. This is not Jupiter, it is broadband hash. I need to
do an EMI investigation.
I will remove the coax and compare the noise floor of all the bands. I also
have a portable SWL receiver that I use for tracking down EMI. I will start to
do that.

I've been using a Heathkit SB-200 with my Flex 5000 for years. Works
great; cost $150 at a hamfest, but unfortuniately doesn't cover 6 meters.
For 6, I use an old Gonset 913A amp with a single 4CX250 in the final.

Or, go all the way to the top as I do. I frequently use my trusty
Collins 30L-1 on 40 meters SSB. I drive it with about 40 watts so as to
very gently make 300 - 400 PEP out. The old 811's create just enough
fuzz to mellow out my 3000's audio. BTWI am told by my musician
friends that some

I use the Collins 30L1 as well, using the Ameritron ARB-704 relay and have had
similar reports. Since I use the 572's instead of the 811's I push it more and
get 500 to 600 watts routinely even though I back off a bit from maximum
output. Plus they're
I was about to comment on your original post, but see here you are
heading down the right track.
Divide and conquer. Is it the Flex, or is it coming in the antenna jack?
Don't just pull the antenna cable, put it on a good 50 ohm dummy load,
using a double shielded coax jumper so there is no
Thank you Steve,
I have not resolved my RF ingress issues in my Flex as yet. 15 meters is the
worse so far. I get oscillations on transmit right now. I have a can of worms
with my Flex, both for transmit and receive. Working to resolve all of these
problems as we speak.
