[Flexradio] Connecting Flex 1500 to Ten Tec 814 (amp)

Do I need to place a diode on pin 3 (flex) from pin 8 (tentec) to  block a surge from the amp relay opening? Also, has anyone tried attaching pin 6 (flex) to pin 5 ( tentec)  - Clock     pin 7 (flex) to pin 7 (tentec) - data Thanks Grady aj4ya ___
