Hello everyone,
I am considering a Flex 5000 to replace my Orion II. I am about to retire from CW DXing, and devote myself to digital full-time.
I see plenty of comments on this reflector regarding technical tips, but not many regarding actual operation in digital DXing and contesting. I did hear that search and pounce is greatly enhanced, but that was about it.
Computing hardware is not an issue, I do that for a living, and it will have the best that $ can buy.
I would like to hear what some of the other virtues of the Flex, such as band recording and log SW integration (DXKeeper,) might add to the experience? How about digital pileups? Split operation? Time from turn-on to making the QSO? Finally, I especially would like to hear from former Orion owners, if there are any? Thanks guys.
