John,
It depends on the band you are on, 80M only has Attn and Off
40m has Attn-Off-Pre1
20m has Attn-Off-Pre1=Pre2
Etc...

Cheers Brian,
That's making a lot of sense here.
Just one off topic question does the 5K have a T/R relay like the 3K
does?

I should probably this a little better...
I’m using a 3K with 2.5.3
When I say there is an extra preamp setting, it’s not visible on the screen,
but the radio itself does switch to some other mode.
Anyone with a 3K can try this...
On 40M band...
Reduce AGC-T to something like 70
Has anyone else noticed that there is an additional preamp on 40M and 30M if
you use the keyboard CTRL P command?
This is especially noticeable when you have the AGC-T set to about 60% or
70%.
40 M only has 3 levels... ATTN-OFF-PRE1
But if you use the Ctrl-P there seems to be an additional level
Exactly the same findings here Ed,
Any digital or prolonged SSB pushed the heat up rapidly and the Silenx fans
were unable to regulate it.
Actually the original fans are incorrectly rated... my tests show that they
are closer to 34CFM using an airflow meter.
I've no idea what the dBA
Part 2...
For the heck of it Ive ordered an audio level meter so Ill be able to make
some actual readings of audio levels when it arrives, probably next week.
I ended up using ThermaTake DuraMax6 fans myself, these are rated at 30CFM
and 32dBA this cut the noise down a fair bit but not
Further testing results...
Out of the box Duramax 6 fans are 28CFM and 160mA @12v
Modified Duramax6 with resistor are 22CFM and 110mA @12v
Key down continuous CW testing at 10W reaches 82 Degrees C after about 10
minutes with modified Duramax 6 fans.
So I think the standard
Been basking my head off the wall with this...
How do I run VSPE at startup and provide it with command line input such as
-minimize etc.
I can insert a shortcut into the startup folder alright, and it launches on
startup ok.
But I can't figure out how to add command line input... just adding
Been there, done that...
The Silenx are only 8CFM, the original fans are 23CFM (Cubic Feet per Min).
These will not cool the finals enough and may damage the rig.
Get yourself a set of ThermalTake Duramax 6 fans.
These have a higher output than the original fans but less than half the
Unfortunately the Thermaltake ISGC Fan 8 is too big at 80mm and you need
60mm
