What I meant was that I play mostly with the 'TEST' vesion.
And to be safe during a contest, I usually use the 'TRUNK' version.

The TRUNK version is one step from the Official Release verson.
Almost all the newer versions have been well tested and generally safe.

So I have two icons on my desktop.
'Trunk' for contesting where a crash would loose time.
'Test' for general playing, testing, and learning how the newer features interact.

I've looked at 'Pretty Betty' but not so interested in 'looks'.

When 'Diversity' get a bit more 'understandable' I'll play with it just so I have an idea what they gurus are talking about. It could be a deal breaker in a super weak DX contact, but that will remain to be seen.

Each of the different versions have special issues.
Each has some special application that eventually will become part of the 'never final' version. I may never use/learn/understand how to use them all, and probably by the time I do, they will be obsolete as those guys in Texas wake up each morning and say 'hey if we connect etc. etc. etc.' and run to their development computer.

You bought the only radio that if you walk away from it for a day, when you come back to it, it will play better than it did than when you left it.

Mine is no where near what it was when I bought it.
and by contamination, I actually learned a thing or two...
(mostly by making mistakes and needing help to fix them).

Whatever you like to do, contest, dx, rag chew, listen to Bavarian Opera.
Do it..and twiddle with the settings, it's a living toy, play it!

So telling you which version to use...no can do...play with them, something will make you say 'hey that's neat!'

just do a SVN update and it will update all versions except the official
RElease version, v1.18.2.

It's not uncommon for there to be multiple upgrades every day.

But....remember this:
Some of the svns require recalibration as the way they work is different
from other versions.
Some have .mdb files and other use the newer .xml database structure.

I tend to stick to the 'TEST' svn and 'Trunk' svn
too hard to keep all the different concurrent changes straight in your head.
