Dear FLEX-5000 customers,

We are pleased to announce that later this evening there will be a new
official release of PowerSDR (v1.16.2) along with a new Beta FLEX-5000
driver.  The new driver (v3.4.0.4877) has several performance and stability
improvements along with being digitally signed, which will expand our
official support of recommended operating systems for PowerSDR including
Vista 64-bit.  The new driver is fully compatible with 32 and 64-bit Windows
operating systems (including Vista 64-bit) and will not require you to
disable the driver signing requirement at boot time as required by previous
versions of the FLEX-5000 FireWire driver.

It should be noted that this is a "Public Beta" version of the driver.
Since it is a beta driver, there are a few minor cosmetic items will be
addressed in the production version that will be forthcoming after beta
testing has completed.  The first thing you will notice is that the control
panel icon is not the light blue FireWire icon, but the older brown
FLEX-5000 icon.  What will be more noticeable is the new 2-D FireWire
console layout.  The FireWire console has been modified to allow it to be
easily customized and the customization file is not included in this version
of the beta FireWire driver.  A more aesthetically pleasing and FlexRadio
specific FireWire control panel layout will be included in the production
version of the driver.  Also, the vendors release notes will pop up
following installation.  Most of these notes do not relate directly to
FlexRadio's products and as such, these should be ignored.

If you are comfortable using Beta software, we recommend everyone using a
FLEX-5000 to upgrade to the new driver even if you do not use a 64-bit
operating system.  We need to have as many beta testers as possible putting
the driver through its paces so we can get any lingering problems corrected
and release the production version of the driver.  Upgrading to version
3.4.0.4877 of the FireWire driver is not required for using PowerSDR
v1.16.2.

PowerSDR v1.16.2 is a minor bug fix release that contains no new features
other than support for the new FLEX-5000 driver.  To review all of the
changes in PowerSDR v1.16.2, please see the KC article PowerSDR 1.16.2 -
