In our area the first D star repeater is just going up with great interest
being generated. Question is there any chance in the Flex 5000's getting
that capability ?

The main problem is the encoding technique used by DStar is proprietary and
2-300 bucks per user license (if I am not mistaken). That makes it
impossible to incorporate directly into a free software package like PSDR.
