I have read the stuff on the flex web page.
What is the difference between the audio buffer, which does not seem to
match the firewire buffer sizes except for two, and the buffers in the dsp?
Are they the same?

Tim,
I
Don,
Tim describes the issues well. Let me emphasize, however, that simply not
running IE or any other app may or may not resolve any issues you may
encounter.
When I got my FLEX-5000, I had an XP machine. I was plagued by DPC's in
excess of 4000us every time the hard drive was accessed, making
process
again. Any ideas why this is the case.

The answer is the laptop is probably up to the task.
Latencies greater than 1500-2000 are getting into the range where
freeze ups can occur, but I think if the FLEX Firewire driver's
Operation Mode is set for SafeMode 1, you will be O

At first I replied privately to Ian, but what the heck...let the silent
majority speak again. My low end PC has an average latency of 1000 uS and
uses nearly 30% of its resources to run the SDR5000 with several other

I'm configuring a laptop ready for a Flex 3000. The Thesycon DPC Latency
Checker v1.1.0 tells me that the average latency is around 500uS, with
occasional peaks (once every 2-3 minutes or so) to around 1000uS.
(By comparison, my desktop PC latency is around 20 uS, with no nasty
peaks).
