It is not elegant, but I run a cable from the PWR SPKR OUT jack on the back
of the FLEX-5000A to the Line In jack on the PC.

Have you tried using the MUTE function, ("MUT" upper left corner) in
digital modes?
As for speakers, I use Bose 'Companion 2' speakers which have two
inputs; and sound great.
