[Flexradio] Getting strange 60 Hz buzz on WWV's signal

When I tune in WWV on either 15 MHz or 10 MHz WWV's carrier is accompanied by what sounds like a fairly strong 60 Hz buzz modulating their carrier. When I tune off their carrier the buzzing modulation disappears. I don't get this phenomenon on any other carrier, on any other band or mode, receive

Hi Bob, I noticed the exact same thing last night. I was really surprised. WWV on my panadapter looked very strange on both 5Mhz and 10Mhz. Today it looks perfectly normal. I wondered if it was an atmospheric effect or solar wind hitting our upper atmosphere? de ken n9vv Robert Cleve wrote:

I saw the very same thing when attempting to tune the clock on my Flex last night. The carrrier signal for WWV on 5Mhz and 10Mhz looked much wider than usual and had a horrific sound to it. Sounds like there may have been some trouble at their station, but has since been fixed. 73,

WWV isnt the only occupant of those frequencies. There are other stations around the world similar to WWV. Could it be propagation allowing another station to come in behind WWV and causing some interference? Ever see the WWV website, http://tf.nist.gov/stations/wwv.html Stan AH6JR On
