Hi Gang. Ok...just got the two new SDR's here. Have some questions. I am hoping i= t is just a set up issue and something I am overlooking. I am trying to use it on AM. I have played around with the bandwidth,ALC= ,Mic and power levels,etc. None of the above setting really seem to do anyt= hing. I have tried a few different mic's......Yaesu MD-1, Astatic 1104C,tri= ed some studio mic's with soem cheap preamps,and EQ's. I seem to have some echo,and the unit does not seem to want to modulate = to very high levels. Now I have been a long time AMer with lots of vintage xmitters (Valiants= ,Ranger,32V2,Desk KW,etc.) behind me. And so far....the rig falls way below= what I was hoping for as far as AM use is concerned. I believe I saw someo= ne say they can get upwards of 150% pos. modulation with theirs. Boy....I a= m only seeing around 80-90%. If I try and push it it distorts and sounds li= ke crap. Maybe the gent that wrote about that can let me know how to get th= ere. Anyways...any pointers would be great. If not I will be selling one of t= he units (keeping the other for SSB MARS use) so if anyone is interested le= t me know. I just received it today so it is basicly new. I got the FireBox= with it,etc. =
