Hello Bill, Thank you for the detailed triage, it worked. I had something going on in my power supply that caused it to drop to 3 volts when Janus was plugged in. Note: don't let the power led's lull you into thinking the voltage is adequate, they light just fine with only 3 volts, but as you said on the current, it was only drawing 50 ma. The system is now working and I am a happy camper. I think we know that the documentation is out of date. Joe, can I assist in bringing it up to date since it's fresh in my mind? Thanks all, 73, Phil K3TUF

My understanding of what you're seeing now is Ozy will get recognized by the computer as a new USB device if you plug in the USB when it is the only card in Atlas bus, but it is not recognized when Janus is plugged into the Atlas. If this is the case two things I'd check, First is how much current are you drawing on the +5, +12 and -12 lines. For Ozy the only one that should matter is the +5 (all it uses +/- 12 for is RS232 emulation). My Ozy+Janus setup pulls about 100 ma from +5 and 200 ma from +12 when initially powered up and not connected to the computer. Are the +5, +12, -12 lines on the Atlas bus at those levels when Janus is plugged in. Second thing I can think of that could be an issue is there's something on the I2C bus that is making the FX2 on Ozy unhappy when Janus is present. You can isolate the I2C bus on Janus buy removing the 2 jumpers near U11 that are labeled I2C BYP on Janus. Things will not work in that configuration, but Ozy should enumerate with the computer. One last thing to check - JP 12 on Janus (LAST JTAG) should be open. Regards, Bill (kd5tfd) At 06:36 PM 1/23/2008, Philip Theis wrote: >I can get Ozy to be recognized by removing Janus.
