I keep hearing people say that the price point from a 5000 to the new 6000
series isn't that much. Well I beg to differ, a base model 5000 was around
$2700 which allowed some of us to purchase a 5000 and as time went on we
could upgrade as money was available. But I see no upgrade path for the 6500
which is the new base model. That's a big price difference not to mention
the $199 a year for support and updates.

PowerSDR is still being developed for other platforms as the base code is
open source and there is another 100 watt SDR with 8 slice receivers which
runs on a few different versions of SDR software including the Powersdr
software. I am very happy with my 5000 and hope to keep it for a while
longer, but unless I hit powerball when replacement time comes I will have
to look at the other SDR's out there..

My 2 cents worth, even if its not worth 2 cents.
