Several months ago, during the Central States VHF Conference I agreed to
take on the project which had been started in early 2005.

At this time I have just ordered the Alpha Prototype boards and
anticipate that all will be well and I can begin ordering parts for the
UCB kit.

My question is how many to plan for? Are you interested? Herein you
will find a description of the capabilities of the Board.

When the Alpha boards arrive my plan is to test here at my place and
send one to Mike King KM0T to test, as he has been the sole user of the
UCB for all of these intervening months since the inception of the idea
of a UCB.

The price for the whole kit will be 99 dollars plus shipping. When I
have the first of the boards complete, I will make photos available on
my website.

I have trimmed the price from the original by eliminating the pic chip.
In addition, working with Eric at Flex, we are anticipating enhancements
to PowerSDR to tap the increased capabilities of the UCB.

Please tell me of your interest in the UCB.

Here are the specs:

The Universal Controller Board (UCB) is intended to allow users of the
SDR-1000 to control a large multi-band station. This board causes a
relay to activate based on what band is currently active. Future
versions of PowerSDR will allow different (relay) output selections
based on the portion of the band or antenna selection (such as four
square or beverage) as well.

The UCB system connects to the X2 external control connector and has the
ability to expand to four UCB boards for a total of 64 output controls.
In addition to DPDT relay outputs for each selection a DPDT output is
provided for PTT activation.

PowerSDR is programmed to control all aspects of the UCB.

The UCB will be available as a complete kit of parts, a kit without
relays, or the PCB only. All construction is thru-hole with no surface
mount components.
