There is no definite answer. You should use as short a cable as possible
(shorter antenna length) for your installation.
I am using on 6-ft (1.8m) long.

I know the recommended length is 6ft or less. However, I recently relocated
my computer to the other side of the room to get it out of the way and
thought I would try a longer cable, so I ended up with a 15ft cable.
