I was trying to hear the YU8/OH24 on 30 cw I could hear a VERY WEAK signal at 10123.065. But the signal was under a stronger constant tone, I could hear the tone and see a spike in the panadaptor. They would occasionally rise up enough to copy but the tone stayed constant. the tone peaked 10dbi above the noise. They YU8 peaked maybe 4dbi.
I gave up, no sense calling as they were not really copyable under that tone. I tuned down and was surprised to find them again at 10122.93. This time they were12dbi over the noise and good copy. Got them on the 2nd call, as he knows my call. I could still hear the tone, but now it was off to the side slightly. I tried kicking out preamp but tone diminished equally with signal. I was punching out NB and other DSP stuff trying to see if anything effected the signal SR had no effect. Selecting other filter had no effect. I shut down all monitors and ancilary equipment to no improvement. So what's the diagnoses, some sort of mixing going on? Oh, if I had to make a guess, I'd say something like 1500hz, really annoying tone that dd vary as I tuned across it of course.
