Hmmm.  Page 62 of the Operating Manual says

DO NOT OPERATE THE 100W AMPLIFIER ABOVE 40W IN
CONTINUOUS CARRIER MODES (E.G. CW, AM, FM, AND
DIGITAL) FOR LONGER THAN 15 SECONDS. HIGHER LEVELS
CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE AMPLIFIER. THE AMPLIFIER IS
RATED AT 100W PEP FOR SSB DUTY CYCLES.


Is your Drive control set at 50 instead of 100?


Have you done your Amplifier Gain Calibration into
a dummy load? (page 36)
Setup
  PA Settings
   Calibrate


Note that your power supply will need to deliver
more than 20 amp of current at the SDR-1000
terminals without voltage sag in order to have
full output.


BTW, for the highest sensitivity, select Preamp High
and increase the RF control more than 100.


You are going to really like the SDR-1000.  I do.
